Digital Literacy

Digital literacy gets talked about as though it means being good with computers. It does not. It means being able to do the ordinary things the modern world assumes you can do, and not being taken advantage of while you do them.

What it actually covers

  • Getting online and staying online affordably.
  • Using email and messaging in a way that gets you taken seriously.
  • Telling a real message from a scam, and a real source from a convincing one.
  • Keeping your accounts, your money and your identity safe.
  • Finding information, and knowing when to doubt it.
  • Using the tools that turn a phone into something that earns rather than only entertains.

Why it is not optional any more

Applications are online. Banking is online. Customers check you online before they call. Someone who cannot do these things is not behind on technology, they are locked out of ordinary economic life. That is a much bigger problem than not knowing a piece of software.

The fastest way to learn it

Not a course. Courses get abandoned. LURA teaches it as a game you actually play, where every ladder is a habit that moves you forward and every snake is a mistake that sets you back. You feel the cost of the mistake without paying it in real life, which is the whole point.
